Top Ten.

NPR, Rolling Stone, Billboard, and every other blogger is doing it, but we thought we'd throw in our little opinion on the top ten albums of 2011 as well.

(And boy, did we debate this out. )

1. Bon Iver- Bon Iver
2. Beirut- The Rip Tide
3. The Head and The Heart- The Head and The Heart
4. The Civil Wars- Barton Hallow
5. Black Keys- El Camino
6. Fleet Foxes- Helplessness Blues
7. Coldplay- Mylo Xyloto
8. M83- Hurry Up We're Dreaming
9. Mates of State- Mountaintops
10.The Decemberists- The King is Dead

1. Explosions in the Sky- Take Care Take Care
2. Bright Eyes-  The People's Key
3. The Decemberists- The King is Dead
4. St. Vincent- Strange Mercy
5. The Strokes- Angles
6. Beirut- Rip Tide
7. M83- Hurry Up We're Dreaming
8. My Morning Jacket- The Circuitial
9. Tuneyards- W H O K I L L
10.Black Keys- El Camino
(Graham couldn't narrow it down to ten... so, #11 Foo Fighters- Wasting Light)

Most overrated album? Adele. (don't hate us.)

  2. Oh, you have such great taste in music! I can't get in to the Civil Wars, not sure why. I'd add Florence and The Machine to the list because it's been in my car on repeat for months. Fantastic lists!

  3. Love your choices! Have you all listened to Laura Marling's "A Creature I Don't Know"? That's definitely in my top ten.

  4. Love your list - very similar to mine. I'd have a hard time narrowing to ten. Off the top of my head, though, I'd probably replace Beirut, Coldplay, M83 and Mates of State with Wild Flag, Gillian Welch, Sera Cahoone and Blind Pilot. Ooh, or Wye Oak.

Here's a list of my favorites:

  5. Such good lists! I'm deciding if I like the Tune-yards or not. They're kind of out of my musical comfort zone. I think Beirut is my #1. Trying to decide between them and Phil Collins...I mean, Bon Iver.

  6. @Abigail- I haven't heard of the artist. I'l have to check her out.

@Mary- You've got a great list yourself. Wye Oak and Blind Pilot rock too!

@Abby. I had Beirut as number for a few day but the Phil Collins song one me over. Kidding but to sound extra lame, Calgary gave me chills the first time I heard it so that won me over. (and now I really sound like a hipsta d. bag.)
