"It isn’t as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don’t worry. I say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. If you do your best, it will all work out. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. … If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers." (Taken from this talk here.)
President Hinckley, a Latter Day Saint leader, said these wise words at his sweet wife Marjorie's funeral. I think if a man as great as him had to repeat this daily, then I should too. Faith and trust in the future is a big thing that I need to work on.
This quote gets me teary eyed every time I read it. Anne Frank, in some of the worst circumstances could look around her and find beauty still left in the world. If that doesn't put things in perspective, then I'm not sure what will for me.
And, I've got the "wants" like it's no one's business lately. Wanting anything and everything under the sun. A big reason? Comparing myself to others. We all know that social networking is a nasty little breading ground for this, and it's good for me to stop and not worry about what everyone else is doing or what they have.

Oh, that whole comparison thing....it's such an easy trap to fall into, isn't it? I often find myself in that hole and have to dig myself back out by ignoring everybody else for a while. Once I can go back to appreciating and being thankful for everything I have in my own life, I can be truly happy for what other people have in theirs.
ReplyDeleteI love love that Anne Frank Quote. That last one is great too. The best way to be happy is to learn how to not compare yourself to others and find what is best for you! Fo sho.
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing these. the anne frank one makes me tear up too... it's all about finding the beauty, no matter what. i hope your day is looking up already!
ReplyDeleteugh! I compare all the time. I wish I could stop my self.

ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you, thank you! This post was just what I needed to read. :)
ReplyDeletethese are all brilliant. i have a hard time trusting that "it will all work out" too. but if president hinckley said it, it's true!
ReplyDeleteread and repeat all to self three times in the mirror daily.
ReplyDeleteI'm such a pessimist.
PREACH! First of all the Anne Frank one got me teary and I posted it to my facebook. Second of all AMEN to the last quote. I am constantly comparing myself to others and what they have instead of focusing on how blessed I am. I so needed this reminder. Thank you!
ReplyDeletecomparison is the thief of joy. i have to repeat this to myself, other and other. every.day.
ReplyDeleteWord, homegirl. Word. I'm currently trying to better myself at not comparing. I feel enormously grateful for everything I have, and so, feel embarrassed when I catch myself wishing and wanting and feeling hard done by. Such nonsense!
